Modern slavery statement

Our commitment to preventing modern slavery and labour exploitation in our own business and in the labour we supply.

Our commitment

Cando Personnel Ltd has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, forced labour, debt bondage and human trafficking. As a labour provider licensed by the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (licence KENT0009), we accept that the workers we supply are among those most exposed to exploitation, and that preventing it is an operational responsibility, not a paperwork exercise.

What we do in practice

  • We meet and identify every worker in person or by live video, and verify their identity and right to work against original documents or the Home Office online service.
  • We pay every worker directly into a bank account in their own name. We do not pay multiple workers into one account, which is one of the clearest indicators of controlled labour.
  • We never charge a work-finding fee, and we do not permit third parties to charge our workers for access to work, transport or accommodation as a condition of employment.
  • We check that transport and accommodation arrangements are genuinely optional and fairly priced where a worker chooses to use them.
  • We watch for the recognised indicators — a third party answering for a worker, shared contact details or addresses across several workers, reluctance to speak alone, signs of control over documents or wages — and we escalate concerns rather than filling the shift.
  • Our consultants are trained to recognise these indicators, and workers are told how to raise a concern in confidence, including directly to the GLAA or the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700.

Our supply chain

We supply workers directly and do not sub-contract labour supply to other providers without a documented compliance review. Where we use transport or training suppliers we require the same standards of them.

Reporting a concern

If you believe someone working with us, or for one of our clients, is being exploited, contact us immediately on 01474 491709 or office@candopersonnel.co.uk. Concerns raised in good faith are treated confidentially and no one will suffer detriment for raising one.

This statement is reviewed annually and approved by the directors of Cando Personnel Ltd.
